South Sea Tahitian Pearl Charms

These are South Sea Tahitian pearls (15.8 x 13.5mm) with 24kt gold paint overlay and abalone shell inlay. This style is called “Maki-e”, a traditional Japanese decorating technique from the Edo Period. Each pearl is decorated by hand using a combination of Urushi lacquer (from the Japanese Urushi Tree) 24kt gold powder and abalone shell. Diamond charm loop made in 24kt contains .16ct (twt). Shown on St Bart's huggie sold separately.
